September 13, 2015 In a conference near Paris on the role of Muslim women shopping and cooking were showcased as appropriate “feminine activities”. One speaker at the conference has reportedly posted calls on social networks for women to veil their faces or risk hellfire and sexual assault in the afterlife. Two fundamentalist preachers just were discussing the question of “whether wives should be beaten or not” when two Femen activists, aged 25 and 31, ripped off their Arab-style cloaks and jumped on to the stage on September 12, Sunday evening. One had the slogan “No one subjugates me” inked across her torso. The other bore the words “I am my own prophet.” The protesters, aged 25 and 31, grabbed microphones and shouted feminist slogans in French and Arabic before being roughly bundled off the stage by about 15 men. Twitter posts called for the protesters to be stoned or collectively raped. The conference organisers said it was “the victim of an anti-Muslim media frenzy.” (Source: The Telegraph): http://tinyurl.com/onv8pao

13 September 2015 Sky finds 'Handbook' for EU-bound migrants. The "rough guide" contains maps, tips and phone numbers of organisations which might help refugees making the perilous crossing. Refugees arriving in Greece on people smugglers' boats are given a 'migrants handbook' packed with tips, maps, phone numbers and advice about getting across Europe. The 'rough guide' is written in Arabic and contains phone numbers of organisations which might help refugees making the journey, such as the Red Cross and UNHCR. Among those behind the booklet are organisations called WatchTheMed-Alarmphone and w2eu, which means 'Welcome To Europe'. Activists distribute the guides for free in Turkey. The guide is distributed to refugees as they come ashore on the Aegean Islands and in Athens and other Greek cities. The guide Sky News found also contained a 24-hour hotline number for migrants to call so volunteers can then pass their details to the relevant coastguard. http://news.sky.com/story/sky-finds-handbook-for-eu-bound-migrants-10346437

Hungary Current situation in Hungary: http://tinyurl.com/nbmbhlx
In this live feed, provided by the network Welcome To Europe, we are gathering, on a day to day basis, verified information. Current Situation: Opatovac Camp (Croatia), 23.9.2015, 16:30hs Right now, more thousands of people are at the Opatovac military camp. People have to go inside if they want to be transferred with the official transports. Inside, they are being registered with Name, Fingerprints and Photographs. So far we have no verified info wether these registrations will be linked to the Eurodac database (Dublin) but we think that it is not the case at this moment. In the camp so far, registration is only on paper and not digital. Police is very aggressive and ready to attack people with teargas if they don’t obey. From the camp Busses are leaving around every 20 minutes to bring people to Zagreb and the HU Border from where they should be transferred further to Austria. Here you may find useful contacts in Hungary concerning legal advice, psychological assistance, free Hungarian courses and social support. Hungary > Overview. For many refugees and migrants Hungary is a transit country to Central and Northern Europe. Crossing the border (in the east via Ukraine, in the south from Greece via Serbia) a serious risk of illegal push-back (“refoulement”) is given, even if a person applies for asylum. A high percentage tries to continue the journey after having been registered. Many are later deported back to Hungary under the Dublin Regulation. In fact, the recognition rates for single groups (in particular Somalis) tend to be high in comparison to other European countries. This is, however, contrasted by the harsh social conditions. Hungary > Dublin II: Hungary has not stopped all deportations to Greece, but if somebody explicitly says, that she/he does not want to be deported back to Greece, the Immigration Office suspends their asylum procedure for some weeks, and in the end they do not send the person back to Greece. So express clearly that you don’t want to go back to Greece. And there is another problem: Many people try to continue their journey after having been fingerprinted in Hungary. If you have fingerprints in Hungary and continue to another country you can be sent back to Hungary...Hungary > Asylum - Different forms of protection that you can get in Hungary; - How do I ask for asylum?; - How is the application processed?; - Rights of the asylum seekers; Read more …
