(KMTG) égisze alatt működő Előretolt Helyőrség Íróakadémia szintet lépett: irodalmi-kulturális mellékletet gondoznak több százezer példányban. A kiadást és terjesztést nyílt közbeszerzésen a Mediaworks-lapcsalád nyerte el, ennek eredményeképpen számtalan regionális napilap előfizetői találkozhatnak szombaton az Előretolt Helyőrség címet viselő irodalmi-kulturális melléklettel. Demeter főszerkesztő rockzenész most éppen Budapesten él. "Ez a feladvány: olyan mellékletet kell összeraknunk, amelyben egyaránt megtalálja a maga számára érdekes írásokat az irodalmi elit Nagykörúton kívül élő része, ugyanakkor a kereskedelmi tévét nézők számára is tud élvezhető tartalmat biztosítani." Tárgyalásokat folytatunk, hogy saját képregényünk legyen. Leszerződtük állandó karikaturistának Könczeyt. November 28, 2017 Russia will build its own Internet Directory, citing US information warfare. The Russian government will build an “independent internet” for use by itself, Brazil, India, China, and South Africa - the so-called BRICS nations - “in the event of global internet malfunctions”. Moscow intends to create an alternative to the global Domain Name System, or DNS, the directory that helps the browser on your computer or smartphone connect to the website server or other computer that you’re trying to reach. The Russian Security Council discussed the idea during its October meeting, saying that “the increased capabilities of western nations to conduct offensive operations in the informational space as well as the increased readiness to exercise these capabilities pose a serious threat to Russia’s security.” Russian President Putin has set a date of August 1, 2018, to complete the alternative DNS. November 25, 2017 Russian President Putin signed into law new measures allowing authorities to list foreign media outlets as “foreign agents” in response to what Moscow says is unacceptable U.S. pressure on Russian media. It will now allow Moscow to force foreign media to brand news they provide to Russians as the work of “foreign agents” and to disclose their funding sources. U.S. intelligence officials have accused the Kremlin of using Russian media organizations it finances to influence U.S. voters, and Washington has since required Russian state broadcaster RT to register a U.S.-based affiliate company as a “foreign agent”. 24 November 2017 At least 235 people have been killed and scores more injured in a bomb and gun assault on a mosque in Egypt’s north Sinai. More than 50 ambulances ferried casualties from al-Rawdah mosque in Abed, about 40 km west of the city of Arish, to nearby hospitals. At least 130 people were reported to be injured. The mosque belongs to a Sufi order – a mystical branch of Islam whose followers are regarded by hardline Islamists as apostates because they revere saints and shrines. No group claimed responsibility for the attack, but it marks a major escalation in a region where for the past three years Egyptian security forces have battled an islamic state insurgency that has killed hundreds of police and soldiers. November 2017 Unconstrained Foreign Direct Investment: an emerging challenge to Arctic security... with a particular focus on Chinese activity ... The Arctic Ocean is a vast maritime region which is bordered by six states that are now coming to appreciate their enormous hydrocarbon, mineral, and other natural resource potentials. Unregulated FDI is a significant, multifaceted security issue. Other states outside of the Arctic have also taken note of the Arctic’s vast and unexploited deposits, especially China. The Arctic is essentially a closed-sea and all human activity, even environmental accidents on land, can have serious environmental impacts on the other littoral countries because of ocean currents and climactic conditions. Exploitation of these resources carries the risk of oil spills, ship casualties, chemical runoff from mining and smelting activities, and more. The Arctic littoral states are not equal in terms of their ability to appreciate these risks and mitigate them. The opportunities of rapid development also carry socio-economic risks to countries that are less economically resilient, such as Greenland, Iceland, Russia and, perhaps tribal regions. Care must also be taken to safeguard the rights of indigenous populations to ensure that they are not displaced from their lands because of resource degradation or social conditions. This case study explores China’s natural resource strategy and its past FDI activities in South America and Africa. This study is limited to the littoral states of the Arctic Ocean because those six states would, under the current legal system, have to bear the brunt of any type of industrial accident. The Arctic Development Bank would provide private developers with access to local capital (vs. Beijing sourced) to finance infrastructure and resource extraction projects. The initial attitude of Chinese investors abroad has been to own assets, rather than lease them. China has invested over $1.4 trillion in the economies of the Arctic nations (including Finland and Sweden), $89.2 billion of which was in infrastructure assets, or projects. Chinese investment in the Arctic predominantly falls into the following three buckets: energy, infrastructure, and mining. China’s interest in the Arctic is clear: as one of the last remaining sources of unexploited resources, the Arctic is an attractive source of the raw materials that China needs to fuel its development. Lack of action could be perceived by unscrupulous investors as a regulatory vacuum, setting the stage for a major industrial accident in which the Arctic littoral countries are forced to confront an environmental catastrophe of the highest order. 23rd November 2017 China has revealed its next generation of nuclear weapon. State media reports the missile is due to enter the arsenal of the People’s Liberation Army in early 2018. Carrying 10 nuclear warheads, the weapon is believed to be 33 tons and approximately 15 metres long. China’s state-owned newspaper The Global Times claims the weapon will be able to strike “anywhere in the world”. It can carry up to 10 nuclear warheads, each of which can target separately. 29 Nov 2017 Thousands of tourists are stranded and 100,000 people have been ordered to leave their homes in Bali as a volcano threatens to erupt. Mount Agung on the Indonesian island has been throwing smoke, ash and steam more than 13,000 feet into the air for the fourth day running. 26th November 2017 Iran has issued a chilling threat to Europe – warning it will increase its missile range so rockets can be launched at the continent. The deputy head of Iran's Revolutionary Guards warned that it may increase the range of missiles to over 2,000 km – enough to strike Europe. Brigadier General Salami said: "If we have kept the range of our missiles to 2000 kilometres, it's not due to lack of technology – we are following a strategic doctrine. So far we have felt that Europe is not a threat, so we did not increase the range of our missiles. But if Europe wants to turn into a threat, we will increase the range of our missiles." His comments come after France called for an "uncompromising" dialogue with the Islamic Republic about its ballistic missile programme. But Iran has repeatedly said its missile programme is defensive and it will not negotiate on it. The super rich have already poured hundreds of billions into private foundations, but the figure could soon be in the trillions. Zuckerberg has pledged to give away 99% of his Facebook shares, currently estimated to be worth somewhere around $70 billion, and much of it will go to a foundation his family controls. Gates and Warren Buffett have each put roughly $30 billion tax-free into the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This has left the foundation so flush that it spent $500 million on a 12-acre, 900,000-square-foot office complex in Seattle for its 1,500 employees. This is philanthropy? Soros and Bloomberg, have turned private foundations into massive de facto lobbying operations for bigger government and liberal causes like higher minimum wages, gun control, universal health care, and a carbon tax. Mr. Soros’s $18 billion gift alone is the equivalent of maybe 100 Heritage Foundations. This kind of weaponized philanthropy has the potential to undermine the American free enterprise system. The question is whether a tax code that encourages dynastic family foundations is good for America. If Congress stopped letting billionaires pour money tax free into the foundation-industrial complex, it would go a long way toward lowering rates and making the tax code fairer for everyone. 27 November 2017 Within the first six hours of the attack world's biggest botnet sends 12.5 million emails containing ransomware that could destroy your computer: Here's how to spot one. Scarab malware is being sent out by Necurs, the largest email spam botnet ever. Infected files are hidden in fake scanned documents that appear to be legitimate. Once an attached 7zip is opened, malware takes over your computer and files. A text file which then pops up threatens to erase them if the ransom isn't paid a Bitcoin ransom. The subject line of emails in the Scarab attack suggests the image scans they contain were created using printers from a number of reputable firms. This includes Lexmark, HP, Canon and Epson, giving the scam messages an appearance of legitimacy at first glance. However, there may be spelling mistakes or other grammatical errors that give the game away. This might be in the subject line, email address or body text of the message. Archive files, like the 7zip format used in the attack, are also another warning sign of potentially dangerous content. These types of file can be used to try and bypass detection by anti-virus scans. Top domain countries targeted in the attack are the US, UK and Australia, followed by France and Germany. Despite its wide distribution, Scarab is detected by most anti-malware software, which means you should receive a warning about the infected files. (Source: DailyMail)

November 30, 2017 Early gravity signals to quantify the magnitude of strong earthquakes. These signals were due to two effects. The first is the gravity change that occurs at the location of the seismometer, which changes the equilibrium position of the instrument’s mass. The second effect, which is indirect, is due to the gravity change everywhere on Earth, which disturbs the equilibrium of the forces and produces new seismic waves that will reach the seismometer. Taking account of these two effects, the researchers have shown that this gravity-related signal is very sensitive to the earthquake’s magnitude, which makes it a good candidate for rapidly quantifying the magnitude of strong earthquakes. The future challenge is to manage to exploit this signal for magnitudes below about 8 to 8.5, because below this threshold, the signal is too weak relative to the seismic noise emitted naturally by Earth, and dissociating it from this noise is complicated.
