2016. III. 25. Életének nyolcvanharmadik évében elhunyt Pozsgay, volt államminiszter, egyetemi tanár. Vitathatatlan szerepe volt a rendszerváltásban, a kommunista és szocialista pártban betöltött jelentős szerepe ellenére mindig fontosnak tartotta az ország és a magyar emberek sorsát. A Konzervatív Hallgatók Szövetsége szervezésében Budapesten tart előadást Friberg, a Motpol svéd metapolitikai think tank és az Arktos kiadó egyik alapítója, aki jelentős múlttal rendelkezik a svéd jobboldali ellenzékben. 2016. III. 27. A 13 évre elítélt negyedik temerini fiút március 8-án engedték ki a börtönből. 2004. június végén Temerinben brutálisan megvertek egy szerb férfit. A szerbiai bíróság gyilkossági kísérlet miatt 10-15 év közötti, aránytalanul súlyos börtönbüntetéseket szabott ki, miközben magyarokat megverő szerbek ugyanabban az időszakban jelentéktelen büntetéseket kaptak. 2016. III. 21. Erdélyi emberi jogvédő monitorizáló körúton volt Morvai, EP képviselő és a Nemzeti Jogvédő Szolgálat Gaudi-Nagy vezette népes küldöttsége. A körút során Nagyváradon, Marosvásárhelyen, Sepsiszentgyörgyön, Kézdivásárhelyen találkoztak helyi magyar jogvédőkkel és jogsérelmet elszenvedett magyarokkal. Az utolsó állomás március 18-án Erdély fővárosában volt, ahol a küldöttség a Magyarok Világszövetségének Kolozsváron élő elnökével, Patrubánnyal és Tokayval, a kolozsvári Magyar Mozgássérültek Társsulatának elnökével találkozott. Elbontásra ítélt Petőfi, Szent István és Szent Erzsébet mellszobrok – ez a nemzeti kisebbségek szabadságjogait „példásan szavatoló” európai uniós tagállam, Románia igazi arca. Patrubány összegző képet vázolt az erdélyi magyarság helyzetéről, amelyet aggasztóként értékelt. Az erdélyi magyar nemzeti közösség élete ekként való alakulásának – amelyben egyre gyakoribbak a román állam és hatóságai által a magyar közösségek és vezetőik ellen elkövetett támadások és nyílt jogsértések – okait vizsgálva az MVSZ elnöke fontossági sorrendben három tényezőt nevezett meg. A legfőbb felelősség a román államot terheli, amely egy percig sem mondott le a magyar nemzeti közösség gyengítéséről, további szórványosításáról. Második tényezőként a mára megosztottá és súlytalanná vált erdélyi magyar politkai képviseletet nevezte meg. Harmadikként a magyar államot sorolta, amelynek politikájából hiányzik a kisebbségi sorba taszított magyar nemzeti közösségek megmaradását szavatoló koncepció, és amely nem, hogy védhatalmi státust vállalna, még e közösségek autonómiájáért sem áll ki, sem a kétoldalú kapcsolatokban, sem a nemzetközi politikai intézményekben. Beszédének második felében az MVSZ elnöke a világ egészére kitekintő geopolitikai képet rajzolt fel, különös hangsúlyt fektetve azokra az eseményekre, amelyek jelentősen befolyásolhatják a magyar nemzeti közösségek sorsát. Ezek között különös hangsúlyt kapott a Moldovai Köztársaság és Románia várható egyesülése, amely óriási világpolitikai kockázati tényezővé is válhat, valamint India azon bejelentett szándéka, hogy a világ több mint húsz államában élő, több mint harmincmilliós cigányságot saját diaszpórájává nyilvánítsa, annak minden világpolitikai következményével. Tokay szólt az általa működtetett népjóléti intézmények, a Szent Kamill, valamint az Árpád-házi Szent Erzsébet Otthon hatósági zaklatásáról és a legfrissebb fejleményekről. A két intézménynek helyt adó telken, amely a kolozsvári Magyar Mozgássérültek Társulatának tulajdonát képezi, az elmúlt négy évben a magyar történelem jeles alakjaival szoborparkot alakítottak ki. Februárban a kolozsvári önkormányzat rendészeti osztálya tízezer lejes (mintegy 700.000 Ft) bírságot szabott ki, és a szobrok elbontására kötelezte a magyar egyesületet. Az indoklás: a mellszobrok – amelyek egy zárt magánterületen állnak, és az utcáról nem láthatóak – nem rendelkeznek hatósági engedéllyel! Március 15-én, a magyar nemzeti ünnep idején a szoborparkban zajló ünnepségre érkező vendégekre – közöttük Magyarország kolozsvári konzuljára, Takácsra – az utcán gyülekező románok rászóltak: beszéljenek románul, mert ez Románia. Az ünnepség végén előzetes tájékoztatás nélkül megjelentek az adóhatóság (ANAF) egyik különleges igazgatóságának ellenőrei, akik négy órán keresztül vizsgálódtak, majd anélkül, hogy bármilyen rendellenességet találtak volna, távoztak. 31 March 2016 Austria has announced tough new plans to reject almost all asylum-seekers at its borders as it continues a crackdown against migrants. Under the new measures, all asylum claims will be decided within an hour at the country’s borders. Only migrants who have an immediate relative already granted asylum in Austria will be allowed to enter. In practice almost no one will be able to claim asylum on the grounds of physical danger as they will be judged to be safe in the neighbouring European countries they have travelled through. 31 March 2016 At least fifty isis supporters are working as baggage handlers, cleaners and catering staff at Brussels airport, claim police. Badges give them access to planes, even to the cockpit of a plane, but they remain employed. Two of the bombers involved in the attacks last week said they had worked as cleaners at the airport. 24 March 2016 Brussels bombers did plan to attack nuclear power station as police uncover 12 hours of footage jihadists filmed outside of the Research and Development Director of the Belgian Nuclear Programme home in Flanders according to newspaper Derniere Heure. The isis terrorists are believed to have wanted to kidnap him to gain entry It has now emerged the creators of the footage were the Bakraoui brothers. The footage was seized following the Paris terror attacks in November. The images were captured by a camera hidden in nearby bushes and recovered by two suspects who left the area in a vehicle with the lights off, Derniere Heure reported. Armed troops were sent to defend French and Belgian nuclear facilities following the discovery and both countries nuclear programmes were put on the highest state of alert. 23 March 2016 Brussels attacks: suspected isil bombmaker Laachraoui 'still on the run'. Belgian authorities fear terrorists in bomb attacks on airport and Metro could still be on loose after suitcase and suicide belt blasts. Laachraoui, who is believed to be the bombmaker, had a third bomb, said to be the most powerful, which did not explode. He did not detonate his bomb at the airport, fled the scene and is still at large. Bakraoui has been identified as one of two suicide bombers in Brussels airport. His brother blew himself up at Maelbeek metro station. Three European Commission officials were hospitalised in the Maelbeek attack. A major EU office block, the DG AGRI building, which houses staff who work on the Common Agricultural Policy has been shut for fears the blast in Maelbeek station left it at risk of collapse. Four Britons were injured in the Brussels terror attacks, Downing Street has confirmed and a missing Briton feared dead. At least 26 people were reported dead and 55 injured, 10 very seriously in an explosion on a train. Belgium raised its terror alert to the highest level, diverting planes and trains and ordering people to stay where they were. Airports across Europe immediately tightened security. "We are at war," French Prime Minister Valls said after a crisis meeting called by the French president. "We have been subjected for the last few months in Europe to acts of war." With three runways in the shape of a "Z," the airport connects Europe's capital to 226 destinations around the world and handled nearly 23.5 million passengers in 2015. March 29, 2016 A Harvard researcher says the terror group might be closer to wreaking some sort of radioactive havoc than we think. Bunn, the co-principal investigator at the Project on Managing the Atom at Harvard’s Belfer Center, says that the threat is quite real.Belgium has seen numerous suspicious events related to nuclear material and facilities. In August 2014, a worker at the Doel-4 nuclear power reactor opened a valve and drained a turbine of lubricant. The valve wasn’t near any nuclear material, but the act caused at least $100 million in damage and perhaps twice that. Later, Belgian authorities discovered that a man named Boughalab had left his job at Doel-4 to join the islamic state in Syria. (His last background check was 2009.) n November, shortly after the Paris attacks, Belgian authorities arrested a man named Bakkali and discovered that he had video surveillance footage of an expert at Belgian’s SCK-CEN nuclear research facility in Mol. It now seems that the footage was collected by Ibrahim and Bakraoui, two of the suicide bombers in the recent Brussels attacks. Then on March 24, a guard was found shot at Belgium’s national radioactive elements institute at Fleurus. A Belgian prosecutor declared the death unrelated to terrorism and denied reports that the guard’s security pass had been stolen and hastily de-activated. A sabotage could create a Fukushima-like environment in central Europe. But to pull that off, militants, criminals or terrorists would need a lot of specialized knowledge of the plant’s security features and measures and how to defeat them. Just before the most recent attack in Belgium, SCK-CEN deployed armed troops to Belgium’s four nuclear sites. Radiological materials are available in many locations where they would be much easier to steal, in hospitals, industrial sites, and more,” than at the SCK-CEN center. Such materials can allow a terrorist to turn a regular-size blast into a catastrophe that renders an entire area essentially poisonous, greatly increasing the costs of cleanup and the long-term danger to survivors, first responders, etc. A recent report from the Nuclear Threat Initiative notes that the material to make a dirty bomb exists in tens of thousands of radiological sources located in more than 100 countries around the world. In 2013 and 2014, there were 325 incidents of radioactive materials being lost, stolen, or in some way unregulated or uncontrolled, according to the report. Cesium-137, or Cs-137, a byproduct of fission that’s commonly used in radiation cancer therapy,“it exists in many places much less well protected than SCK-CEN. The ultimate nightmare takes the form of a nuclear bomb composed of highly enriched uranium. The idea that terrorists could get such material and make a crude nuclear bomb is not far-fetched. According to the International Atomic Energy Agency, 13 incidents of the “illegal possession, sale, or movement” of highly enriched uranium occurred between 1993-2014. There is a perceived demand for such material. The number of successful transactions is not known and therefore it is difficult to accurately characterize an illicit nuclear market. March 25, 2016 Contrary to Turkey's determined stance in its fight against the PKK and DAESH, Belgium has always been a safe haven for many members of various terrorist organizations and has turned a deaf ear to Ankara's constant demands for the extradition of PKK terrorists, rejects 20 extradition demands from Ankara, despite President Erdogan's statement that Bakraoui, one of the suicide bombers in the Brussels attacks, was previously deported from Turkey's southeastern province of Gaziantep in July of last year. Germany has also rejected more than 300 requests from Ankara for the return of terrorists. Even though Turkey has requested the return of the terrorists, the answer has so far been negative. The files complied by Ankara against these PKK officials and members include the organization's propaganda in the country they live, racketeering under cover of donations and drug trafficking that goes throughout Europe as well as financing the terrorist organization through the money collected from activities conducted in Europe. March 21, 2016 Last week alone Turkey became the target of international terrorism twice. Last Sunday in the central square in Ankara, a member of the PKK offshoot Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK) blew herself up in a very crowded intersection and transportation hub, killing 35 and wounding more than 120 people. According to initial reports, she was facing trial for propagating PKK propaganda and she went to Syria, where she was trained among the members of the People's Protection Units (YPG). This was the second bombing in Ankara in a month perpetrated by the same organization. On Feb. 17, the TAK had conducted another terrorist attack around the same neighborhood during a rush hour, killing 29 and wounding 61 people. Following these attacks in Ankara within a short period of time, on Saturday, this time a suicide bomber blew himself up close to Taksim Square in Istanbul, in one of the busiest shopping districts in the country. Five people were killed in the attack and dozens of people, including foreign nationals were wounded. The authorities have now formally announced that the suicide bomber was a DAESH member. The attacks took place in Istanbul, DAESH is trying to make the attacks more international by conducting suicide bombings in tourist areas. The strategy to fight against DAESH by empowering the YPG has been shown to be counterproductive. To support a terrorist organization to fight another terrorist organization was already a risky enterprise, especially when the YPG was acting like a branch of the PKK, which has been targeting the Turkish state for years. 28 March 2016 The Indian Catholic priest Father Uzhunnalil, Salesian, 56, kidnapped by isis-linked terrorists in Yemen who attacked an old people's home operated by Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity in Aden, killing at least 15 people, on March 4., was crucified on Good Friday - the Archbishop of Vienna, Cardinal Schönborn, told a congregation gathered in St. Stephen's Cathedral in the Austrian capital. The cardinal based his statements on news published on Arabic language web sites.
