2016. III. 2.  Megegyezett Ákos a Telekommal, milliók az árváknak. Március elsején a budapesti Andante Borpatikában Kovács ötvenmillió forintos támogatást nyújtott át Böjtének, a dévai Szent Ferenc Alapítvány vezetőjének, hogy támogassa gyermekmentő munkáját. A 2300 árva és szegény sorsú gyermek gondját viselő ferences rendi szerzetes a csekk átvétele után elmondta: „Ez a legnagyobb egyéni adomány a dévai Szent Ferenc Alapítvány történetében. Igyekszünk a lehető legjobb árfolyamon átváltani gyermekkacagássá, jó magyar szóvá.

Hozzátette: a szigetvári vár szerepel a Nemzeti Várprogramban, helyreállítására a magyar mellett európai uniós forrásokat is igénybe fognak venni. A jelenlegi török kormány emlékezet-politikájában kiemelt szerepet játszik a külföldi oszmán emlékek megóvása és felújítása, így érthető a törökök érdeklődése Szigetvárral, I. Szulejmán szultán halálának helyszínével kapcsolatban. Az emlékév hivatalos programjának részeként szeptemberben várhatóan Magyarországra látogat Erdogan török elnök is. (Forrás: MagyarIdők)

Erdély
2016. III. 10.  Különösebb incidens nélkül zárult este Marosvásárhelyen a Székely Szabadság Napja alkalmából szervezett megmozdulás, amelyen a szervezők szerint 15 ezren vettek részt. A székely vértanúk obeliszkjénél elhangzó beszédek után a főtéren Székelyföld autonómiájáért tüntettek, majd iktatták a demonstráció petícióját a prefektúrán. 2016. III. 4.

2016. III. 1. Hargita megye lakossága 10 százalékkal csökkent az elmúlt 20 évben.  A 0-19 év közötti lakosok száma a felére fogyott – ez a következménye annak, hogy egyre több fiatal vándorol külföldre jobb megélhetési lehetőséget keresve. A megye polgárainak 25 százaléka nyugdíjas. A megye városai közül Gyergyószentmiklóson a legnagyobb a munkanélküliség, a legkisebb pedig Csíkszeredában, országos szinten pedig a megye a középmezőnyben helyezkedik el. (Forrás: ItthonMa)

Felvidék
2016. III. 7. A két, magyar szavazatokra is számot tartó párt tábora tovább csökkent. Germany
March 9, 2016  Is this the next woman to run Germany? Kloeckner is brash, charismatic, and an unabashedly conservative alternative to Merkel. Can she plot a trail from the countryside to Berlin’s top job?  As a little-known provincial politician from Germany’s center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) Kloeckner before joined the Bundestag, Germany’s parliament, in 2002, her main claim to fame was her one-year reign as the country’s 1995-1996 “Wine Queen.” As German viniculture’s promoter-in-chief, she once had the honor of presenting Pope John Paul II with a bottle of Riesling. This year Kloeckner is back in the spotlight for her stance on asylum-seekers, the issue currently roiling German politics. She is running to become premier of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Kloeckner released a paper that recommended deciding asylum claims directly at the border and regulating the flow of refugees through daily limits, determined on an ad hoc basis. All of a sudden, Kloeckner looked like a rebel, advocating for a plan much closer to the stop-gap, unilateral measures already taken by neighbors Austria and Denmark than Merkel’s cumbersome trans-European solution. A new generation is on the rise. Kloeckner grew up in a conservative Catholic family of vintners. Kloeckner wants to win back the CDU’s traditional supporters. She campaigns not just against Merkel’s refugee policy, but also against assisted suicide, and for balanced budgets that include more funding for police. The fact she is unmarried and has no children could still prove a political liability. In Rhineland-Palatinate, Kloeckner’s CDU is running neck and neck at 35 percent with incumbent Dreyer’s Social Democrats. Merkel is more isolated than ever. The center-left Social Democratic Party, her main coalition partner in the national government, is exploiting fears that low-income Germans will have to compete with refugees for social welfare benefits, while Seehofer, head of the CDU’s arch-conservative Bavarian sister party, the Christian Social Union, is demanding an annual cap on refugees and even threatening to take Merkel to Germany’s constitutional court. Other EU leaders have largely ignored Merkel’s calls for a Europe-wide solution to the influx. Only 39 percent of Germans are happy with her refugee policy, while 59 percent disapprove of it. Kloeckner isn’t plotting a coup but waiting in the wings. (Source: ForeignPolicy): http://tinyurl.com/zgfuox6

Great Britain
2 March 2016 British woman becomes one of the first cancer patients to be injected with new tumour-destroying vaccine designed to stimulate the immune system. She was diagnosed with advanced, stage four cervical cancer in July 2015. At the same time, the patients on the trial will be prescribed a chemotherapy drug that should, at low doses, “lift the brakes” on the immune system so that it is no longer prevented from attacking the body’s own cancer cells. She was injected at Guy’s Hospital in London with the vaccine on 9 February and has another seven visits to the hospital to complete the treatment. The vaccine contains a small fragment of protein from an enzyme called human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT), which allows cancer cells to divide continuously. It is hoped that by injecting this antigen into the bloodstream, it will stimulate the immune system to make antibodies that attack cancer cells but leave normal, healthy cell untouched. The unique feature of this study is the use of additional agents to boost the vaccination response. (Source: TheIndependent): http://tinyurl.com/h48oknd

March 5, 2016  Germany and Italy's interior ministers have written to the European Commission calling for an EU-wide system to register migrants and a harmonization of selection procedures and rights for asylum seekers, a German newspaper reported. They said the EU's Asylum Support Office (EASO) should get extra staff and funds so it could become a "real European asylum agency". 'The aim was to create an "institutionalized relocation system in the EU'. The EU's external borders need to be secured to sustainably reduce the influx and refugees should be spread around the bloc by means of set annual quotas, they said. Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic have been among the staunchest opponents of EU plans to transfer asylum seekers arriving in southern Europe to other EU states. The ministers called for an EU list of safe countries of origin and said a "robust and coordinated European repatriation mechanism" was needed to send illegal economic migrants back to their countries of origin. Moldova
2016. III. 8. Russia
March 3, 2016  How NATO can disrupt Russia’s new way of war. A look, in particular, at Russia’s use of electronic warfare (EW) and special operations forces (SOF) suggests ways that U.S. and other NATO forces might prepare to counter them.  Every military district houses an independent EW brigade, supplemented by strategic battalions with specialized EW equipment and a special independent EW brigade carrying the title “Supreme Main Command” (only two other units in the Russian Armed Forces reportedly carry this title). In Ukraine, Russia frequently jams its enemies’ tactical communications through a variety of means. During the initial Crimean seizure, cellphones in the area were reportedly jammed by Russian warships. As the conflict moved to the Donbas, pro-Ukrainian and OSCE UAVs found their data links persistently jammed. Further, Russian UAVs that can carry the Leyer-3 jammer and direct artillery fire have been spotted in Ukraine and Syria. Where Ukrainian forces have acquired encrypted radios, Russian EW troops hone in on their stronger signal to geolocate their position. These and many similar tactics enable Russia to erode its adversaries’ intelligence-gathering, communications, and command and control. Russian EW gear may even threaten strategic collection platforms like low-earth orbit spy satellites, airborne surveillance systems. They are believed to have the potential to interfere with low-earth orbit spy satellites, airborne surveillance platforms, and other collection systems. In any case, their deployment certainly allows them to prove their capabilities against advanced U.S. and NATO platforms. For instance, the Murmansk-BN long-range jammer was recently deployed to Crimea, and the Krasukha-4 advanced EW system has been observed in both Ukraine and Syria. Russia also uses its EW capabilities to amplify the effectiveness of its special operations forces, the “little green men” used to such noteworthy effect in Ukraine. In his famous article on hybrid warfare, Gen. Gerasimov asserts that SOF and internal opposition are used “to create a permanently operating front through the entire territory of the enemy state…” Russia’s renewed interest in SOF is further illustrated by the creation of the elite Komanda Spetsial’nikh Operatsiy (KSO) command and deployment of various SOF forces in Ukraine and Syria.  At the beginning of the conflict, KSO and naval spetsnaz units seized several strategic sites, including airports, surface-to-air missile batteries, Ukrainian military facilities, and the Crimean parliament building. As the conflict shifted to the Donbas, other SOF elements were deployed to protect Russian technical trainers, in still control over the separatists’ chain of command, and train and support separatist fighters. In Syria “highly-secretive” Zaslon SOF personnel have been deployed to guard sensitive Russian equipment, personnel, and information. Additional SOF activity is likely as Russia’s involvement in Syria expands. Nations threatened by Russia’s hybrid warfare can strengthen their resilience through investing in encryption and tactical ISR. First, build stronger and more redundant C3I by encrypting radio, data links, and satellite communications, and developing promising new technologies such as cognitive EW. Although Russia’s advanced EW capabilities can attack nearly any system, redundancy can limit their impact. Second, improve the ability to monitor and understand the battlespace by improving tactical ISR. UAVs are key: hand-launched ones, medium-altitude drones with greater endurance, and airborne ISR platforms with electro-optical/infrared sensors and signals intelligence payloads — all of which must be supported by secure data links. The U.S. and its NATO partners must explore developing new operating concepts; for example, ground forces should be prepared to mimic the U.S. Navy’s “emissions control” by operating in the absence of a data network. They must increase joint training against conventional and unconventional Russian military scenarios, allowing NATO to strengthen its response, practice its interoperability, and signal its defensive resolve. Ultimately, they must learn how to assess their own prowess, doctrine, strategy and tactics against an adversary whose expertise in hybrid warfare is growing by the day. 3 March 2016  Lavrov’s article "Russia’s Foreign Policy: Historical Background" for "Russia in Global Affairs" magazine. A substantiated policy is impossible without reliance on history. This reference to history is absolutely justified, especially considering recent celebrations. In 2015, we celebrated the 70th anniversary of Victory in WWII, and in 2014, we marked a century since the start of WWI. In 2012, we marked 200 years of the Battle of Borodino and 400 years of Moscow’s liberation from the Polish invaders. If we look at these events carefully, we’ll see that they clearly point to Russia’s special role in European and global history. The adoption of Christianity in Russia in 988 – we marked 1025 years of that event quite recently – boosted the development of state institutions, social relations and culture and eventually made Kievan Rus a full member of the European community. At that time, dynastic marriages were the best gauge of a country’s role in the system of international relations. In the 11th century, three daughters of Grand Prince Yaroslav the Wise became the queens of Norway and Denmark, Hungary and France. Yaroslav’s sister married the Polish king and granddaughter the German emperor. We are approaching a dilemma that has been evident for several centuries. While the rapidly developing Moscow state naturally played an increasing role in European affairs, the European countries had apprehensions about the nascent giant in the East and tried to isolate it whenever possible and prevent it from taking part in Europe’s most important affairs. Peter the Great managed to put Russia into the category of Europe’s leading countries in a little over two decades. Since that time Russia’s position could no longer be ignored. Not a single European issue can be resolved without Russia’s opinion. During at least the past two centuries any attempts to unite Europe without Russia and against it have inevitably led to grim tragedies. The First World War claimed lives and caused the suffering of countless millions of people and led to the collapse of four empires. In this connection, it is appropriate to recall yet another anniversary, which will be marked next year – the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution.  Particularly in the West, many are willing to use this date to mount even more information attacks on Russia, and to portray the 1917 Revolution as a barbaric coup that dragged down all of European history. The role which the Soviet Union played in decolonisation, and promoting international relations principles, such as the independent development of nations and their right to self-determination, is undeniable. In the context of the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution, it is important for us to understand the continuity of Russian history, Western propaganda habitually accuses Russia of “revisionism,” and the alleged desire to destroy the established international system, as if it was us who bombed Yugoslavia in 1999 in violation of the UN Charter and the Helsinki Final Act, as if it was Russia that ignored international law by invading Iraq in 2003 and distorted UN Security Council resolutions by overthrowing  Gaddafi’s regime by force in Libya in 2011. There are many examples. Importantly, the long-term success can only be achieved on the basis of movement to the partnership of civilisations based on respectful interaction of diverse cultures and religions. We are not seeking confrontation with the United States, or the European Union, or NATO. On the contrary, Russia is open to the widest possible cooperation with its Western partners. Svédország
2016. III. 7. Ezért egyre több ember elégedetlen a fennálló rendszerrel.

European Union
March 8, 2016  Migrant ‘exchange’: Turkey accepts mass returns but sends Syrians to Europe. The European Union and Turkey struck a preliminary deal to block the vast waves of migrants crossing the Aegean Sea, effectively agreeing to slam shut the back door into Europe. The deal, to be ironed out over the next 10 days, could dramatically alter the region’s refugee crisis, sealing off the single biggest corridor for irregular migration into Europe. Serbia announced it would allow entry only to people who have valid papers to travel in Europe. The government said it was reacting to a similar move by Slovenia. European leaders lauded the agreement as a means of turning back economic migrants while also “saving” Syrians from the clutches of unscrupulous human traffickers. Under the deal, all new migrants — including Syrians and Iraqis — found at sea or who reach Greece by boat would be sent back to Turkey. But for each Syrian among those returned, the European Union would be required to accept another Syrian directly from Turkish refugee camps in a “one-for-one” exchange. In addition to new aid, Ankara also wants accelerated talks on joining the European Union — a bid opposed by many current members — as well as visa-free travel within the E.U. for Turkish citizens. Europe so far has failed dismally in its effort to “legally relocate” Syrians, Iraqis and other asylum seekers from Greece and Turkey. Last year, European nations promised 160,000 slots, but only about 700 have been filled. Some countries, such as Hungary, have effectively reneged completely. Its leader, Viktor Orbán, has already promised to veto the new deal should it compel all E.U. nations to accept Syrians. (Source: TheWashingtonPost): http://tinyurl.com/jptd2ot

March 7, 2016  Hungarian Revolution: Orbán says 'No!' to Brussels migration plan. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has emerged as the leader of the pro-sovereignty opposition to the dictates of the EU's Brussels bureaucrats. When German Chancellor Angela Merkel swung open Germany's doors to hundreds of thousands of migrants (mostly from places "liberated" by Germany's ally, Washington), Orbán quickly saw the disaster that was coming and rushed to defy Brussels and build a border fence. When Brussels told Budapest that it had to take in its "fair share" of migrants flooding Europe thanks to Germany's promises of asylum and lots of free things, Orbán told the Euro-crats to take a hike, that he would solve the problem democratically by holding a referendum to see what Hungarian citizens wanted. Merkel's Europe is becoming a nightmare, where no one seems safe from the predations of the newly-arrived "guests." Government-sponsored information booklets instructing new migrants that it is not polite to rape the locals quickly turned into "how-to" guides for raping the locals. Where Austrian leaders once called Orbán a "Nazi" for putting the brakes on the tidal wave of migrants passing through Hungary, they soon found themselves so over-run that they were forced to put caps on migrants and institute Schengen-breaking border controls. Does foul-mouthed Austrian Chancellor Faymann believe he too is a Nazi for his panicked moves to protect Austria's borders? Today's European summit of heads of government and state was supposed to rubber-stamp the latest blackmail demands of Turkey's President Erdogan. Back in November the Turkish strongman (and isis ally) demanded that Brussels give him $3 billion to slow down the tidal wave of migrants into Europe. Today he expected to really cash in. He demanded another $6 billion and the abolition of EU visa requirements for Turkish citizens. But Orbán today ruined the party. He vetoed the deal. Like Corleone with the corrupt Nevada Senator, Orbán told Turkey, "my offer is this: nothing." Brussels had a collective nervous breakdown. (Source: RonPaulInstitute): http://tinyurl.com/h5xewub

Europe
March 10, 2016 Anti-migrant parties in countries from Hungary to Germany to Slovakia are experiencing a record surge in support. Viktor Orbán's conservative Fidesz party has seen soaring poll ratings at the expense of the far-right Jobbik, as he took an unapologetically hardline stance in the migrants crisis. The Hungarian leader has sealed the country's southern borders with razor wire and fences, refusing to take in a single migrant under a mandatory EU quota scheme. The right-winger has styled himself as the defender of Christian Europe against Muslim hordes. In Poland the conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party came to power last October and is deeply opposed to taking in refugees under an EU quota system. Its leader Kaczynski had accused migrants of "bringing in all kinds of parasites which are not dangerous in their own countries, but which could prove dangerous for the local populations" in Europe. In Austria the far-right Freedom Party -- already the third-largest party in parliament - has topped opinion polls lately, with scores as high as 34 percent. It rails against "asylum cheats", organises demonstrations against planned centres for refugees and wants Austria's borders sealed. The populist Danish People's Party formed in 1995 achieved a historic high score of 21.1 percent in the June 2015 elections. It was behind a controversial measure passed in January allowing Denmark to seize valuables from refugees to pay for their stay. In France the far-right National Front (FN) topped the vote in regional polls on December 6, forcing traditional parties to band together to keep them out of power. Its leader Le Pen has said migration into Europe recalls the "barbarian invasions" of the fourth century. In Greece Golden Dawn captured seats in parliament in 2012 with 6.92 percent of the vote while Greece was in the throes of a sovereign debt crisis. It has orchestrated demonstrations against the opening of refugee shelters, but its popularity has not grown. In the Netherlands the far-right Freedom Party has steadily grown since its establishment a decade ago, stoked by its leader Wilders' fiery anti-Islam and anti-European Union rhetoric. Next week he faces charges of inciting racial hatred. The far-right Sweden Democrats burst into parliament with 12.9 percent of the vote, becoming the country's third biggest political force. In Czechia the newcomer anti-foreigner party The Dawn, captured eight seats in parliament in 2013. Czech President Zeman, known for his anti-migrant rhetoric, sparked an uproar last year when he appeared on the same stage with Dawn officials. The far-right Conservative People's Party of Estonia (EKRE) founded in 2012 entered parliament last year with seven seats. It holds torchlight night parades through Tallinn. The populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) was founded in 2013 on an anti-euro platform, but has since morphed into an anti-migrant party that sparked a storm in January after suggesting police may have to shoot at migrants at the borders. In Slovakia far-right nationalist party LS-Nase Slovensko (Our Slovakia) made spectacular gains in elections last weekend. The head of the party, 38-year-old Kotleba, wants to impose order on the parasites in (Roma) settlements, to protect residents from "gypsy terror". (Source: Yahoo): http://tinyurl.com/glct9yl

Malawi
2016-03-02 Criminal gangs nicknamed "albino hunters" and armed with machetes, knives and axes are striking fear into people living with albinism in Malawi, abducting and often killing their victims in broad daylight and in the dead of night. Attempted killings and brutal murders have prompted some police authorities to brand albinos an "endangered species" in Malawi. Just imagine, there are even some daredevils who go to cemeteries to dig graves where people with albinism were buried. All that is done in the name of hunting for the body parts or bones of albinos. January this year, at least 11 people with albinism were killed while 34 others were attacked with some of them suffering body mutilations. In central Malawi's district of Dedza, Zulu abducted his own son, who he wanted to sell to three "human hunters". Police arrested him before the sale was concluded. Witchdoctors were taking advantage of poor people's ignorance by creating the misconception that body parts of albinos are potent charms. Misconceptions include the wrong belief that having sex with an albino will cure HIV and Aids. Some are hoodwinked into believing that albino body parts can make one get rich quickly, either by using parts such as eyes to be visionary and forward-looking. A mob burnt to death seven alleged members of an albino hunter gang found with human parts including bones in Southern Malawi's border district of Nsanje. China
March 8, 2016 Points from the State Religious Affairs Bureau Order No. 5, a law that authorities passed in 2007 are meant to govern reincarnation. The law itself frames reincarnation in terms of national security: “The selection of reincarnates must preserve national unity and solidarity of all ethnic groups, and the selection process cannot be influenced by any group or individual from outside the country,” it says. On Jan. 18, authorities published online an official registry of 870 licensed living Buddhas, searchable by name, temple and identity card number or “living-Buddha card number,” to cut down on fraud. Yet experts say that the system of registering living Buddhas has itself become fertile ground for corruption. You get a permit from the local religious affairs office, saying you’re recognized as a so-called living Buddha. Once you have that system, it means you can pay for it. The Dalai Lama, in a 2011 statement, called the country’s reincarnation laws “outrageous” and “disgraceful.” “The enforcement of various inappropriate methods for recognizing reincarnations to eradicate our unique Tibetan cultural traditions is doing damage that will be difficult to repair” - he said. More than 140 people in Tibet and neighboring provinces have burned themselves to death since 2009 as a grim protest against Chinese rule; many have called for the Dalai Lama’s return as they went up in flames. Authorities closed Tibet to foreign visitors beginning Feb. 25, and will probably keep it off-limits until the end of March — an annual occurrence since riots rippled across the region in March 2008. They have not extended the same restrictions to domestic Chinese tourists. “If the Dalai Lama wants to return to China, he must give up 'Tibet independence, and must publicly acknowledge Tibet and Taiwan are inseparable parts of China and that the People's Republic of China is the only legitimate government” - Chilin, deputy Communist Party chief of the region, said. March 10, 2016 Japanese researchers find Ideonella sakaiensis microbe, bacteria which eats plastic - the PET, the polymer widely used in food containers, bottles and synthetic fibers. The bacteria could help break down otherwise non-biodegradable debris in landfills or recycling plants. At a recycling plant, Dr. Yoshida and his team collected 250 samples of PET debris and discovered a host of different microbes living among the trash. Adhered to a low-grade PET film, the bacteria used two enzymes to break down the plastic into two environmentally benign substances, which served as their main source of food. But the digestive process is slow. A colony of I. sakaiensis could completely degrade a low-grade plastic water bottle in six weeks. The plastic would need to be heated and cooled—cooking the bacteria’s dinner, in effect — to weaken it before bacteria could start eating. (Source: TheWalStreetJournal): http://tinyurl.com/zp8gz6z

Mar 9, 2016 North Korea's Kim says country has miniaturized nuclear warheads to mount on ballistic missiles. Kim has called for his military to be prepared to mount pre-emptive attacks against the United States and South Korea and stand ready to use nuclear weapons. U.S. and South Korean troops began large-scale military drills this week, which the North called "nuclear war moves" and threatened to respond with an all-out offensive. Kim also inspected the nuclear warhead designed for thermo-nuclear reaction, referring to a miniaturized hydrogen bomb that the country said it tested on Jan. 6. Pictures of Kim showed what seemed to be a large hangar speaking to aides standing in front of a silver spherical object and a large object similar to the KN-08 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) previously put on display at military parades. March 7, 2016  North Korea threatened "indiscriminate" nuclear strikes against South Korea and the US bases on the mainland and in the rest of the Asia-Pacific region, as the two allies prepared to kick off large-scale joint military drills. It came just days after leader Kim ordered the country's nuclear arsenal to be placed on standby for use "at any moment," in response to tough new UN sanctions imposed over the North's fourth nuclear test in January and last month's long-range rocket launch. South Korean and US troops are to conduct an annual field exercise known as Foal Eagle last for weeks which involve tens of thousands of US and South Korean troops. (Source: Yahoo)

1 March 2016 The children of a Thailand tribe see with total clarity beneath the waves. Moken children are able to make their pupils smaller and change their lens shape. Seals and dolphins have a similar adaptation. When we age, our lenses become less flexible, so it makes sense that the adults lose the ability to accommodate underwater. The European kids would experience red eyes, irritated by the salt in the water, whereas the Moken children appeared to have no such problem. (Source: BBC): http://tinyurl.com/j2xa6w8

United States
March 10, 2016 The billionaire Soros and other liberal donors will bankroll a new $15 million campaign to mobilize Latinos and other immigrants this fall, hoping to channel outrage at the political rhetoric of Trump and other Republicans into a surge of votes for Democratic candidates in November. The new spending would be the largest Democratic voter-turnout effort ever devoted exclusively to Latino and immigrant voters. Most of the money will be spent through organizations in Colorado, Florida and Nevada, states with large or growing Latino and Asian populations that will be pivotal in the presidential race and in the battle for control of the Senate. Organizers hope to reach 728,000 voters — mainly Latinos and Asians, and to get at least 400,000 new Democratic voters to the polls in November. Soros has committed another $5 million to a Democratic-led legal campaign to contest restrictive voting laws in states like Ohio, Wisconsin, and North Carolina. At the same time, conservatives are already investing heavily to woo and turn out right-leaning Hispanic voters. A group called the Libre Initiative, financed by the Koch brothers’ political network, is expected to spend more than $10 million through November and already has dozens of field organizers in nine states. Both campaigns are unfolding against a demographic surge that is reordering American presidential politics, providing millions of new voters for Democrats while stirring an angry counterreaction on the right, where working-class white voters have rallied to Mr. Trump’s promises to end illegal immigration, to build an enormous wall along the Mexican border, and to expel undocumented workers who are already here. In an email, Soros said he had been particularly struck by the tone of the 2016 race, in which Mr. Trump and other Republican candidates have also called to block Muslim refugees from entering the country. The organizers would be provided data to help identify likely voters and recruit local volunteers to remain in contact with them through November. America’s Voice, which is active in lobbying for immigration reform in Washington, will conduct bilingual polling in Spanish and English. Correction: March 10, 2016. An earlier version of this article misstated the circumstances under which Soros fled his native Hungary. He left the country and Soviet dominance in 1947, not during Nazi occupation. March 8, 2016  The oligarchs' super-PAC anti-Trump savagery. Fully 116 members of the GOP’s national security community, many of them veterans of Bush administrations, have signed an open letter threatening that, if Trump is nominated, they will all desert, and some will defect – to Ms Clinton!  What are these renegades and turncoats so anguished about? Trump calls the Iraq War many of them championed an historic blunder. Trump says that, while a supporter of Israel, he would be a “neutral” honest broker between Israel and the Palestinians in peace negotiations, as was Carter at Camp David. Trump says he would “get along very well” with Putin, as Nixon got along with Brezhnev and Mao. Trump would launch no new crusades for democracy. He would not oppose Russia bombing isis. He would build that wall on the border. He would transfer from U.S. taxpayers to rich allies more of the cost of defending themselves. Do not most Americans agree with much of this? By midnight, March 15 if Trump loses Florida and Ohio, winner-take-all primaries, he would likely fall short of the 1,237 delegates needed for nomination on the first ballot. How could the anti-Trump forces defeat him in Ohio, Florida and Illinois? With the same tactics used to shrink Trump’s victory margins in Virginia, Louisiana and Kentucky to well below what polls had predicted. In every primary upcoming, Trump is under a ceaseless barrage of attack ads on radio, TV, cable and social media, paid for by super PACs with hoards of cash funneled in by oligarchs. But Trump, who is self-funding his campaign, has spent next to nothing on ads answering these attacks, or promoting himself or his issues. He has relied almost exclusively on free media. American Future Fund is dumping $1.75 million in Florida this week; Club for Growth $1.5 million. Hedge-fund billionaire Singer is backing the Conservative Solutions PAC, which has dumped millions into anti-Trump ads and plans to spend more than $7 million between March 1 and 15, with $4 million of that going into Florida. The super PAC pile-on is unprecedented. Can millionaires and billionaires who back open borders, mass immigration, globalization and the disappearance of nation states into transnational collectives overwhelm with their millions spent in ads the patriotic movements that arose this year to the wonderment of America and the world? 3/7/16 Record 61 million immigrants and their American-born children in U.S., 15.7 million illegally. The analysis by the Center for Immigration Studies found that 45.3 million, or three-fourths of the 61 million, are legal immigrants. The report notes that the so-called "Gang of Eight" immigration bill supported by GOP presidential candidate Sen. Rubio would have doubled that number of legal immigrants. The report found that the normal pattern of immigration to the United States changed after 1970. At that time, there were 13.5 million immigrants, or about one in 15 U.S. residents. Now nearly one of every five U.S. residents are immigrants. "The number of immigrants and their young children grew six times faster than the nation's total population from 1970 to 2015. For example in Georgia, this population grew 3,058 percent (from 55,000 to 1.75 million). (Source: WashingtonExaminer): http://tinyurl.com/zsat3ab

March 4, 2016  Outbreak of bloodstream infections reported in southern Wisconsin. Officials test water, skin care products in mysterious Wisconsin bacteria outbreak State health officials said they have been investigating for two months an "outbreak" of high mortality bloodstream infections in people older than 65 caused by a bacteria called "Elizabethkingia." Health officials are testing water, skin care products and over-the-counter medications, and interviewing patients and families, to try to identify the source of an outbreak of a bacteria that has sickened 44 people in southern Wisconsin and may have contributed to 18 deaths. Lab tests suggest a common source of the bacteria. But the investigation, which started in January, has not revealed the source. Most of the patients are elderly, with serious underlying health conditions. No cases have been reported among children, and there is no evidence of transmission from one person to another. Nationwide, about 250 to 500 cases are known to occur each year, with a few localized outbreaks in recent years. Symptoms can include fever, shortness of breath, chills or cellulitis, a skin infection. (Source: WisconsinStateJournal): http://tinyurl.com/hey8na4

03 Marc 2016 American researchers believe laser beam could be used to deflect space rocks on collision course with planet Earth. The team at the University of California say laboratory tests show their De-Star - or Directed Energy System for Targeting of Asteroids and exploRation – could actually work. They envisage putting an unmanned De-Star craft in orbit. At the first sign of a impending disaster it would target the asteroid with a high-energy laser, causing part of the rock to vaporise in a process known as sublimation. That ejection of gas would then create sufficient force to alter the course of the rock. The technology is available today. They estimate they could use a 10 kW laser – less powerful than some used by the US military, for example – to deflect a 100 m wide asteroid over a period of 30 years. At the same time, they are working on a smaller version that could fly alongside asteroids, acting as a last line of defence if there was less of a warning. Mar 1, 2016 Violent extremists, criminals and foreign fighters are part of the daily refugee flow into Europe, the top NATO commander in Europe U.S. Air Force Gen. Breedlove in testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee told lawmakers. The islamic state is "spreading like a cancer" within this mix, "taking advantage of paths of least resistance, threatening European nations" and the United States. Breedlove later told reporters that he has asked for more U.S. forces to be permanently based in Europe, which is facing threats from a more aggressive Russia as well as the islamic state group. A senior U.S. official said Breedlove has asked for more Army troops that could be ready to respond quickly to any crisis or military need. The Pentagon has steadily decreased the number of U.S. forces in Europe over the last several years, choosing to shift focus to the Asia Pacific while fighting continues in the Middle East. Russia and Assad, Breedlove said, are using migration as a weapon to overwhelm European support structures and break European resolve. He cited the use of barrel bombs. The only purpose of these indiscriminate attacks is to terrorize Syrian citizens and "get them on the road" and make them problems for other countries, Breedlove said. He added that reports suggest that about 6,000 foreign fighters have left to join the fight in Syria and Iraq, and that about 1,500 of them have returned to Europe. The International Organization for Migration said that almost 130,000 migrants - more than 2,000 each day - have reached Europe by sea since the beginning of this year and 418 have died trying, most drowning in the cold, rough waters. The number of arrivals in the first two months of 2016 is more than 11 times as many as the same period last year. Breedlove said forcing the flow of migrants into Europe fits into Russia's goal of using nonmilitary means to create divisions in the NATO alliance and the European Union. In addition to the dangers posed by terrorists in the refugee mix, Breedlove warned that opposition from local nationalists in Europe to the large influx of refugees could lead to violence. March 1, 2016 A new GOP is born. At the end of the Cold War in 1991, many Americans urged that, with the Soviet Empire dissolved and Soviet Union disintegrating, it was time to bring our troops home and let the rich fat nations that had been freeloading for half a century provide the soldiers and pay the cost of their own security. Instead, the establishment opted for empire, for expanding old alliances, dumping over regimes, crusading for democracy, sending our soldiers out to remake Third World countries in the image of Iowa and Vermont. Who now thinks all these wars were worth the cost? Whether Trump wins or loses the nomination, the immigration, trade and foreign policies pursued by the elites since the end of the Cold War are dead letters. The nation has declared them to be so in the primaries. Who is campaigning, in either party today, for open borders, or passing The Trans-Pacific Partnership, or sending troops back to Iraq or into Syria?  As in 1964 and 1980, a new Republican Party is taking shape. The US launched only one while the USSR launched all the rest. America's uranium-fueled SNAP-10A entered into an orbit of 575 miles above the earth in 1965. It operated for 43 days before it stopped responding. It's now in a slow trajectory to hit the ground in about 3,000 years. By then, hopefully, its radioactive cargo will be mostly harmless. The last nuclear-powered satellite, launched by the Soviet Union, blasted into orbit in 1988. If any of these nuclear-reactor-powered satellites collide with another object in space, or suddenly crash to the ground, they could release radioactivity. The Soviet Union had a few such mishaps since it launched all those nuclear satellites. In 1978, its spy satellite, Kosmos 954, crashed into the Northwest Territories, scattering radioactivity across almost 48,000 square miles. The USSR had to pay Canada $10 million for the damage. In 1995, NASA scientists found a cloud of liquid, radioactive sodium and potassium coolant in orbit. It came from the Soviet satellite Kosmos 1900. Something else in space crashed into it, causing the nuclear reactor to leak. The cloud of radioactive fluids is still floating up there. All of these dead nuclear-reactor-powered satellites are in orbits higher than 430 miles. NASA and Roscosmos, Russia's space agency, are reportedly looking into building nuclear engines again. NASA built several perfectly functional nuclear rocket engines from 1955 through 1973. (Source: BusinessInsider): https://tinyurl.com/y8uudtmj
